De 1962 a 1965, los Beatles hicieron 52 apariciones en la BBC, grabaciónes en vivo en el estudio de sus versiones oficiales y docenas de canciones que nunca se publicaron. Este magnífico disco doble recopilatorio cuenta con 56 de estos temas, entre ellos 29 covers primitivos de R&R, R&B, soul, y melodías pop que nunca aparecieron en sus discos oficiales, así como la original de Lennon- McCartney 'I'll Be on My Way', ofrecida en 1963 a Billy J. Kramer en lugar de grabarla ellos mismos.
Estas actuaciones son electrizantes, especialmente en los covers (Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Carl Perkins, Elvis Presley). Hay también canciones de los Everly Brothers, Buddy Holly, Chan Romero (un maravilloso 'Shake Hippy Hippy'), Eddie Fontaine, y Ann-Margret. La mayor joya es, probablemente, su versión fabulosa de Arthur Alexander, 'Soldier of Love'. Restaurado a partir de cintas de diferentes calidades, el sonido es en general bueno.
