Para conmemorar los 30 años desde el lanzamiento del primer álbum de Dylan para Columbia, se celebró un macroconcierto homenaje en el Madison Square Garden de Nueva York, con la participacion de una galaxia de estrellas y voces del pasado. El núcleo principal fueron, los tres miembros supervivientes de Booker T. & the MG, además de G.E. Smith en la guitarra y Jim Keltner y Anton Fig en las baterías. Entre las interpretaciones más memorables estan las de Richie Havens con 'Just Like a Woman', Clancy Brothers con 'When the ship comes in', 'You Ain't Goin' Nowhere' de Mary Chapin Carpenter, Shawn Colvin, y Rosanne Cash, y un hosco 'Masters of War' de Eddie Vedder y Mike McCready a la guitarra acústica. Lou Reed recupera la semi desconocida 'Foot of Pride', que se adapta perfectamente al estilo declamatorio de Reed. Eric Clapton entrega una de las actuaciones más electrizante de su vida en 'Don't Think Twice, It's All Right', y George Harrison hace su aparición en concierto en EEUU tras 18 años con 'Absolutely Sweet Marie'. Dylan aparece al final, salvaje con 'It's Alright, Ma' y 'Girl of the North Country'.
