Las bandas sonoras han dado buenos resultados a Carly Simon, que registro cuatro hits con temas de películas entre 1977 y 1989, por lo que era sorprendente que nunca hiciera un álbum completo para una hasta este 'This Is My Life', el debut como directora de Nora Ephron, que nos cuenta el dia a dia de una madre soltera. Simon contribuyó, ademas de los temas cantados, con cinco canciones instrumentales en un estilo muy lúdico. El tema "Love Of My Life" alcanzó el número 16 en las listas de musica adulta contemporanea, pero el álbum ni siquiera entro en ellas.
