'Reach the Beach' supone un avance significativo respecto al álbum debut de Fixx, 'Shuttered Room'. La banda ahora puede crear melodías pop/rock accesibles y pegadizas. 'One Thing Leads to Another' tiene un gancho de guitarra potente, con un ritmo bailable, mientras que 'Saved by Zero' y 'The Sign of Fire' son fragmentos de synth pop. Aunque el resto del álbum no es tan pegadizo 'Reach the Beach' sigue siendo una agradable colección de new wave impecablemente producida y con estilo bailable.
