Una de las bandas de mayor éxito internacional en todo el heavy metal, Manowar, han vendido más de nueve millones de discos desde sus inicios en 1980. El enfoque del grupo fue diseñado al estilos vikingo, con agresivos riffs, letras que trataban de luchas, violencia, honor y muerte. La banda publicó un par de álbumes, 'Battle Hymns' (1982) e 'Into Glory Ride' (1983), antes de irrumpir en el Reino Unido y Europa con 'Hail to England' y 'Sign of the Hammer' en 1984, lo que llevó al grupo a firmar un acuerdo con Atlantic y triunfar a nivel internacional con 'Fighting the World' en 1987.
