Los New York Dolls en directo son desaliñados, ruidosos, borrachos y vulgares. Pero 'I'm a Human Being' es una joya. Incluye selecciones de una de las grabaciones piratas más conocidas de los Dolls, 'Red Patent Leather', así como temas de otro concierto, supuestamente en Vancouver en 1974. La calidad del sonido es buena y está repleta de temas que nunca aparecieron en ninguno de los dos álbumes de estudio de los Dolls.
