Cuando Marc Bolan empezó a grabar 'Zinc Alloy and the Hidden Riders of Tomorrow', había había roto con su mujer y había redescubierto la música soul. La producción es potente y contundente. Suena inspirado, con canciones impresionantes, especialmente baladas como 'Change' y 'Teenage Dream'. La producción esconde sorpresas ingeniosas como bajos acústicos contundentes, guitarras slide torpes, arpa y mucho piano que acompaña la guitarra cada vez más agresiva de Bolan. 'Zinc Alloy and the Hidden Riders of Tomorrow' quizá no sea el mejor ni el más amado álbum de T. Rex, pero sus ritmos profundos, su emoción auténtica, su sonido rockero y su dedicación y entusiasmo casi desbordantes lo hacen imposible de ignorar.
