'Bring the Family', junto a Ry Cooder, Nick Lowe y Jim Keltner, fue el mejor álbum de la carrera de Hiatt. En el registro se genera un ritmo limpio y ahumado que es conmovedor y satisfactorio. Ry Cooder con la guitarra es impresionante, pero lo mejor es la composición de Hiatt. 'Bring the Family' se grabó tras un período de gran turbulencia personal. Hiatt nunca había escrito nada tan abiertamente confesional como 'Tip of My Tongue' o 'Learning How to Love You', o temas rockeros como 'Memphis in the Meantime' y 'Thing Called Love'. Es una rica y satisfactoria muestra de rock & roll maduro.
